The name LANXESS was created from the combination of the French word “lancer” (to release) with the English word "success", that is, to release + success. This was the ideal way we found to symbolize the dynamic, innovation-oriented profile focused on world leadership in the chemical products segment.
A young company that was already born with a long and respected history.
In spite of being recent, the history of LANXESS began in 1863, when Bayer was established. However, it was only after a restructuring process of the Bayer Group’s business in 2004, that LANXESS’s story really began to be written.
LANXESS took on the chemical activities and part of the group’s polymer division. One year later, in January 31, 2005, LANXESS became an independent company.
With its main office located in Germany, LANXESS is present in about 50 sites in 18 countries. Its team includes 20,000 collaborators who ensure a production that meets the international quality standards, as well as constant investment on research and development of new technologies.
In Brazil, LANXESS’ inorganic pigments industrial plant, which is located in Porto Feliz-SP, is the only plant outside Germany with infrastructure for synthesizing iron oxide. In this plant, the industrial pigments of the Bayferrox® and the Xadrez® pigments are manufactured.
In this branch, solutions are developed for coloring plastics, construction materials, paints, rubbers and papers, among other products. Other technical areas, such as applications on brake linings, refractory, catalyzers and water treatment, are also supplied by the Brazilian plant.
